Our Student Award

The Isle of Man Arts Council has announced the launch of its new Student Awards for 2019/20 to support students studying the arts who are moving into further and higher education. 

There will be three awards available, each for £10,000, to be awarded to three students over the duration of their arts course. Please read the following information on this page carefully before continuing onto the application.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE CONSIDERED BY THE ISLE OF MAN ARTS COUNCIL. PLEASE SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION.

Please note that applicants can apply for EITHER the Jonathan Gollow Award OR the Norman Sayle Award AND the Isle of Man Arts Council Award should they have extenuating personal circumstances.

The Jonathan Gollow Award

The Jonathan Gollow Award for Performing Arts in memory of the late music promoter Jonathan “Jonno” Gollow who was a valued member of the Arts Council until 2012 and who sadly passed away suddenly in 2017.

You will need the following documents ready before starting your application (*required): 
- A current CV*
- Proven academic + extra curriculum achievement*
- Reference from school or college*
- Reference from your chosen discipline*
- Personal statement*
- Supporting documents e.g. exam certificates, portfolio, reviews*
- Supporting documents 2
- Offer letter*
- Evidence of other sources of income (if declared) 

The Norman Sayle Award

The Norman Sayle Award for Visual Art and Literature in memory of the most celebrated Manx artist of recent times, Noman Sayle RI TH (1926-2007) who was also a dedicated teacher and a former Arts Council member.

You will need the following documents ready before starting your application (*required): 
- A current CV*
- Proven academic + extra curriculum achievement*
- Reference from school or college*
- Reference from your chosen discipline*
- Personal statement*
- Supporting documents e.g. exam certificates, portfolio, reviews*
- Supporting documents 2
- Offer letter*
- Evidence of other sources of income (if declared) 

The Isle of Man Arts Council Award

The Isle of Man Arts Council Award is to be awarded to a student whose extenuating personal circumstances such as low family income, disability or long term illness may be preventing their further studies within the arts.

You will need the following documents ready before starting your application (*required): 
- A current CV*
- Proven academic + extra curriculum achievement*
- Reference from school or college*
- Reference from your chosen discipline*
- Personal statement*
- Supporting documents e.g. exam certificates, portfolio, reviews*
- Supporting documents 2
- Offer letter*
- Evidence of other sources of income (if declared) 

Please note that for the Isle of Man Arts Council Award in addition to the above you will also need:
- Evidence of family/household income e.g. bank statements or slips*
- Evidence of family income support e.g. evidence from a social worker or social services e.g. of extenuating circumstances*

How to apply

To apply for our grant funding please fill out our online application form. Please note that you will not be able to submit your application form until you have provided all the necessary information that is required. Please refer back to our ‘Before Applying’ section to review what you’ll need before you start the application.
