Sarah has been working on a very special project recently creating the transition costume for the Beast for the Theatre Royal Winchester's Beauty and the Beast.

In addition to the frockcoat shown in the photograph, the rest of the costume consists of breeches and a waistcoat. Working on a Pantomime costume is the first element of Sarah's final year of study.

This was my first time making a full male costume and I absolutely loved making the 18th century inspired frock coat, breeches and waistcoat. I had a lot of fun decorating the costume to give it that extra panto sparkle. As the jacket was for the Beast to wear during his transformation scenes I had to experiment with using non-traditional fastenings and decided to use magnets which were really fun to work with.

I would like to thank the Isle of Man Arts Council for their continued support of my work and for featuring it on their social media. I am currently working on my Research Project which is to be completed in January, before I undertake my Final Major Project. I am proposing my major project idea to the tutors over the coming weeks and once approved I can't wait to share with you my plans for the coming months. Thank you once again for all your support!
