Students who demonstrate exceptional talent in their chosen field may be eligible for funding to assist them
in furthering their studies.
The charity is now inviting applications for its 2020 scholarship programme from students planning to make a career in the arts.
Arts Aid seeks to make a difference especially for students in situations when Isle of Man Government funding is unavailable, or students need additional financial support. Arts Aid scholarships are awarded for one year. Arts Aid made its first awards in 2018 providing a total of four scholarships. In 2019 Arts Aid awarded a total of eight scholarships.
Scholarship recipients pursuing multi-year courses may re-apply and may be considered for a renewal of the scholarship based on their performance.
Those wishing to apply for scholarships for courses beginning in 2020 should contact the Secretary and request an application pack. This pack includes an application form and
instructions. To be eligible for an award applicants will need to demonstrate exceptional talent in their chosen field. Applicants will need to provide suitable written references in support of their application.
Candidates will be assessed on their written application and those invited to the next stage will be asked to attend an interview with the directors in Douglas. Candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible as available funding is limited and the application process is competitive. At the time of their application candidates will be expected to have applied to a course of study at a suitable educational institution. It is not, however, necessary to have a confirmed place when first applying to Arts Aid for a scholarship. Awards will be conditional on the applicant being able to demonstrate that they have been offered a confirmed place on their chosen course.
David Wertheim, chairman, said: “The directors are looking forward to meeting this year’s scholarship applicants and learning about their aspirations. The standard of the applicants
is very high and although unfortunately not all applicants will be offered a scholarship we wish each and every one of them success in their chosen endeavours.”
