With a background in both music and video production, Dave works from his production base in the Douglas. Having cut his teeth on several critically acclaimed music albums and documentary films, he scored his first critical success with his 30 minute short drama film GHOSTGIRL.
Dave directed and co-produced the highly regarded documentary THE WATCHMAKER'S APPRENTICE. This achieved initial UK distribution on NETFLIX (where it has remained on the main carousel for a year). The film also screened in Tribeca, supported by the British consulate in the USA and has become the definitive story of the greatest watchmakers of the modern era.
THE WATCHMAKER'S APPRENTICE. film has now attracted an international distribution partner for wide releases in the USA, Germany and France.
The film also won best documentary with a prestigious REMI award at Houston Worldfest and a glowing review from renowned BBC critic MARK KERMODE.
Dave co-founded the growing and successful ISLE OF MAN FILM FESTIVAL now in its 5th year. The festival has attracted star guests such as upcoming director AMMA ASSANTE (BELLE) and Sir JOHN HURT and JOHN RHYS DAVIES. The festival also aims to be a showcase for the nascent Isle of Man independent film industry which David is helping drive.
Dave is currently co-producing & directing a much anticipated biography of the acclaimed artist and designer ROGER DEAN and he has in the pipeline a series of documentaries in development.
Dave also has his sights set on feature film and TV series development. As an experienced arranger and record producer, Dave is currently working alongside his music business partners with local singer songwriter Mae Challis.
As a member of the Isle of Man Arts Council, David is key figure in the development of film & media production in the Island.
Dave has a long history of working with the Arts Council, having produced films for 2104 Island of Culture, Davy Knowles documentary "Island Bound" and, more recently, a short film jointly promoting Culture Vannin and the Arts council .
