Chair of the Isle of Man Arts Council

Marlene was educated at Ramsey Grammar School and gained degrees in Architecture at Liverpool University, ultimately qualifying as a Chartered Architect. Having worked in private practice for a number of years and also gaining a Diploma in Conservation Sciences, Marlene was appointed to the role as the Island’s first Building Conservation Officer.

Music and the Arts have been a lifelong passion having firstly studied both Art and Music at ‘A’ level, but also singing classical music, composing and recording songs in a traditional genre, in additional to singing with various groups performing both on and off the Island and representing the Isle of Man. Marlene is also a keen water colourist and a member of the Mannin Art Group.

The work of the Arts Council is immensely important in promoting the Arts; supporting and encouraging growth and continuation of the Island’s unique wealth of talent, as well as helping promote our Nation’s reputation in the field beyond our shores.
