Jackie Morrey-Grace

Hi, I'm Jackie, triple Manx Litfest Poetry Slam Champ, previous winner of the Olive Lamming short story comp, swashbuckling trombonist, poetic performance artist, author of two IOM Arts Council funded poetic epics, On Ravensdale Hill and Asila's Song, co-founder of Penny Productions - a non-competitive, collaborative, celebrationist of the awesome poetically performed arts of most excellence, aspiring actor and visual artist, and disabled rights activist via www.withoutwings.co.uk - Without Wings, the Manx Autoimmune Arthritis Trust.

I'm also a copywriter at www.launchiom.com and author of two more poetry books that are in the birthing process, 2 novels that are awaiting surgery and half a play.

My raison d'etre is to create beautiful concepts and watch them come to life within the the context of awe, intrigue, wonder and magic. I believe creativity begets creativity and love dabbling in all the various artforms, though am most at home with words - and trombone, but that's a more physically demanding outlet for me.

What inspires me is innovation, yogic meditation, nature isolation, celebration and the amazing, creative people I meet who nurture and invest in their skills and talents to create beauty in this world.

Kindness, compassion, the natural rhythms and landscapes of life, art, music, dance, theatre and music are King, Queen and all that's in-between.

Winning the slams gave me an incredible platform and the confidence to evolve creatively and move forward. However, my heart lies in collaboration, cooperation and celebrating those who inspire me through their own authenticity and dedication to their artistry. This, and theatrical/ fantastical writing is therefore my new path. I LOVE performing, both at home and away, so see you on the stage!
