We are continuing to celebrate National Tree Week, showcasing some of the Island's artists that use trees in their work, this time we focus artist Patricia Tutt.
"I love trees, and find them beautiful, whatever stage of life or death they are in. They are resilient, tenacious – and fragile, often eking out an existence at the limits of their viable range. Consumed by fire, sculpted by the wind, or stripped of bark and leant on by elephants, they somehow manage to survive in extreme conditions. These three images taken above the natural tree-line at Injebreck are from a collection spanning forty years that record the survival or loss of trees and hedges in marginal or vulnerable environments. "An Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, her work has been exhibited in the Isle of Man, the UK, and Malawi and she has undertaken commissions from governments, international aid organisations, private clients, consultants and contractors. Both her PhD on Manx Vernacular Architecture (2012) and her substantial book on the Architecture of the Isle of Man (2013) are extensively illustrated with her photographs. Most of her photographs are available as prints and greetings cards, all of which she produces herself. You can find out more about Patricia by visiting her website or via The Creative Network
