Call For Artists!
A call for artists who may be interested in supporting a creative art project for people with dementia has been announced by the Older Person Mental Health Service.
The project is funded by the Arts Council and set up by the Older Person Mental Health Service in collaboration with Alzheimer’s Society and the Admiral Nurse Team.
We already have some fantastic local artists who facilitate and support the group sessions. We would like to explore the possibility of additional artists who may be able to offer something different to our sessions. Our aim is to have a variety of different art forms from music, drama, pottery, poetry and visual art. We are open to any suggestions and ideas to make the sessions as enjoyable and interesting for the attendees as possible.
Support facilitating the group will be given by the Older Persons Mental Health, Alzheimer’s Society and Admiral Nurse Team. The group will have approximately 7-8 people with dementia attending along with the family or friend they come with. People are offered 6 sessions which are held on a fortnightly basis on a Friday, 11:00am until 13:00pm. The group is currently being held at the Older Persons Mental Health Service, Grianagh Court, Nobles Hospital Site. Dementia Friends Information sharing sessions will be available for those artists who are interested in joining this initiative.
If you would like to support this project or find out more about it please contact Joanne Christian or Emma Stewart at:
joanne.christian@gov.im, emma.stewart@gov.im alternatively call 642879 to discuss this further.
We look forward to hearing from you with any proposals, ideas, along with information on costs for delivering the session.
