Designs Sought for Creative Toilets in Ramsey
In celebration of arts and culture as fundamental to our wellbeing and sense of place, and investing in the Island’s creative community for success and sustainability, we are inviting submissions for a public art commission expressing an artistic interpretation of the theme “Ramsey, Aquatic and Marine”.
This exciting new project comes from IOM Arts Council and Culture Vannin’s partnership on the National Development Strategy for Culture and the Arts, a strategy which aims to bring arts and culture to the community in fresh and inspiring ways, to develop culture and arts for everyone.
Aims of the Project
Public art, and mural art in particular, has been proven to immortalise a strong sense of identity of an area, enhancing uniqueness and character and encourages people to view land and seascapes in new ways.
The aims of the project are:
• To design and complete a series of internal and/or external murals that create a sense of connection with the town of Ramsey - this connection should be able to echo with residents of the town and tourists alike.
• To create a unique and recognisable landmark in the town that will become part of the culture for the future, demonstrating the connection between culture and the arts and well being and the environment.
• To celebrate the land and seascape of Ramsey and its sense of place.
