16th September 2021
Isle of Man Arts Council to launch “Ellyn: A Tale of Manx Contemporary Art”
In partnership with UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, the Isle of Man Arts Council are excited to announce that “Ellyn”, a collaborative art book and exhibition, will be open and available to the public from this weekend.
The book, titled "Ellyn: A Tale of Manx Contemporary Art" ("Ellyn" being the Manx word for "Art"), aims to celebrate and cherish the Isle of Man in the form of contemporary fine art. The Isle of Man Arts Council collected artwork from over 60 artists through a process of invitation and open call, who each created work that responded to the theme “Isle of Man” and what this means to them.
“Ellyn” will be made available from this Saturday, 25th September via iomarts.com and from Monday, 27th September at local stockists to be confirmed soon.
In addition to the book, the “Ellyn” exhibition will be open to the public from this Saturday, 25th September and will run daily between 10am and 4pm until Sunday, 10th October. The exhibition will be situated in the Villa Arcade and will showcase all of the featuring artwork in “Ellyn”.
Arts Development Manager Jane Corkill said “We are looking forward to the opening of the Ellyn exhibition and the launch of the accompanying book. This is a breath taking and unique opportunity to view new artwork from 66 of our Island’s finest contemporary artists who each bring a fresh and individual perspective of our Island in this ever changing world, and it is not to be missed.”
All questions regarding the book and exhibition should be directed to Olivia Savage at Olivia.Savage@gov.im.
