Isle of Man Arts Council announce sponsor for “Ellyn” exhibition

The Isle of Man Arts Council are pleased to announce that Harbour Lights Group will be sponsoring the upcoming exhibition launch for “Ellyn: A Tale of Manx Contemporary Art”.

“Ellyn” is a collaborative art book that aims to celebrate and cherish the Isle of Man in the form of contemporary fine art. Comprising of 66 of the Isle of Man’s local artists and in partnership with UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man, the book will be packed with a vast range of artwork that all respond to the brief, “Isle of Man”.

The “Ellyn” exhibition, which will be held in the Villa Marina Arcade, will accompany the launch of the publication and will showcase all of the featuring artwork.

Commercial Director of Harbour Lights Group, Ben Heath said:

“The continued development of the Arts on the Isle of Man is of huge importance to us at the Harbour Lights Group. With two venues in the heart of the cultural quarter (Harbour Lights at the Sefton and Sir Norman’s Theatre Bar) we are aware, perhaps more than most, of the depth and breadth of artistic talent on the Island. The Island has a rich history of artistic excellence, and we are proud that our sponsorship will contribute in a small way to highlighting the brilliant contemporary artists practicing on Island”.

Arts Graduate Intern, Olivia Savage, who is working with the Arts Team for 2 years and has created and managed this project, said, “It has been overwhelming and truly inspiring to see the artistic response generated from this project and equally, the support that we have received, especially in this sponsorship. I have loved seeing this project evolve throughout this year and want to thank Harbour Lights Group for the help they have provided”.

The “Ellyn” exhibition will open to the public on the 25th September 2021 and will run for 2 weeks, closing on the 10th October 2021.

All questions regarding the book and exhibition should be directed to Olivia Savage at Olivia.Savage@gov.im.
