Work Experience Blog 21-25 June 2021:

Monday

On the first day of the work experience we had a quick introduction on everyone and about the office, then we were given a schedule on what we would be doing for the week.

After getting given the schedule we then walked to observe a meeting and what it was like before we went off to Castletown, when we got to Castletown to take photos of public artwork.

The first picture is of a wallaby that has been painted like the scenery of Castletown, it was also one of the many wallabies that were around the island painted as the scenery of that place, despite most of them being wall murals they were still really fun to look at, since they had their distinctive styles  of different artists. i then took short videos and some photos of each of the artworks to make a mini vlog video on that day. After that we went to Pulsom park to look for the metal crane and the branch dome to take more photos and videos, as well as to look before we go back to the office and edit the photos and videos.

Tuesday

For Tuesday we were then brought to a meeting in the Villa Gaiety, where they talked about the different events that will happen, different shows coming up and ratings, which seemed to have lasted around nearly an hour, since we was only observing the meeting.

After the meeting it was the lunch break and as usual we went out to go meet with a friend to eat. Coming back we then went to go into an office member to attend a small art gallery in Laxey, we couldn’t really get any photos since I don’t think they were allowed, but they were very lovely pieces of artwork.

You have to look properly to understand the painting and also to use your imagination since they were sort of abstract and you would only get hints of what it is about by the title and the colours. Arriving back in the office we went to finish up small details on the video from Monday and then sent it for it to be uploaded.

Wednesday

In the morning after arriving we started to do some reasearch on Peel public art for Thursday, after getting a good decent amount of research and spots we were then let out for our Lunch break and as usual I would go with my friend.

After coming back from Lunch we were then showed to the projection room where all the movies would be shown we also learned that in the room bellow the projection room was where electricity was first used on the island.

Right after the tour we were taken inside the cinema since there was a viewing and they let us watched film called ‘The Father’ it was a movie about an old man with Dementia in which I nearly cried. It was a bit confusing but did tug on some heartstrings.

Thursday

In the morning we met in Peel and visited the House of Mananan to look at more Artwork Surrounding the theme of Borders, I personally liked the back and white one which was to show freedom of an animal, there was a lot going on inside of it , but then has a clear blank space of white that seems to have an effect of peace.

After looking at those artworks we then went out to Fennella beach to take photos of Fennella and the castle, she was on a hill and looking out towards the castle along with Manannan’s cloak (mist/fog) it looked really mysterious.

When we got back we were assigned to wrap up the paintings, being extra careful to not break any, and we continued to work like that until it was time to go home.

Friday

This morning when coming into the office I started to type this up, my work experience Blog, for the morning we would be working on what to write about our work experience, then we had our lunch and so on, when coming back we then went to listen to the sound bites which lasted a good hour, there was two guys one on the keyboard and one doing the vocals, it was a really good experience and an enjoyable one too, I had lots of fun listening to their music, as well as the whole Work Experience in general.

Overall during the Work Experience week, I really enjoyed it, and it was a good way to show what it’s like, so now if i‘m getting a job in a place similar to the one I have just experience, I know what to expect and do.
