The Royal Ballet and Opera Season Begins at Studio Theatre
Fans of Ballet and Opera on the Island can enjoy performances and behind the scenes footage and commentry from the Royal Opera House at The Studio Theatre, Ballakermeen. The theatre has long been a supporter of Ballet and Opera and have recently announced their Live Screening programme, which includes many performances from Royal Ballet and Opera.
The world famous theatre, located at Covent Garden is home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera. A recent decision has been made to reflect the importance of these two under the same roof. From the start of the 2024/25 Season the company based at the Royal Opera House will be known as the Royal Ballet and Opera.
The company, under its new and combined organisational name, have announced eight new ballet productions, a world premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s opera Festen and a European premiere of Wayne McGregor’s MaddAddam. While the Royal Opera and Ballet have long operated in the same building, the organisation are now including the ballet into its name to reflect the breadth of its offering.
