What Kind of Funding Should I Apply For?
Every year the Isle of Man Arts Council supports many individuals and organisations seeking to promote the arts within the local community. This support comes through several funding schemes, which include grants, awards, underwriting and loans.
Not sure which one is right for you? Take a look at our three funding streams below to see which is the best fit for you.
Grant Funding

The Isle of Man Arts Council supports artists looking to create new work, develop skills or present artwork of all kinds to the public. This may be music, visual art, film, theatre, dance, spoken or written word etc. that inspires, entertains and engages wide-ranging audiences both locally and internationally.
We believe that by supporting artists, our grant funding can benefit our community and promote engagement in the arts in the following ways:
1. By supporting projects that make the arts accessible to a wide-ranging audience (i.e. anyone can have a go)
2. By supporting artists to produce work that is inspiring and high quality whereby the public become active consumers of the work.
Our grant funding exists to support artists in their pursuit of either and both of these aims.
Underwriting

Underwriting is a guarantee against loss for a ticketed event. The Isle of Man Arts Council supports artists looking to put on events that enable the community to participate as audience members or develop artistic skills through workshops. This may be music, visual art, film, theatre, dance, spoken or written word etc. that inspires, entertains and engages a wide-ranging audience.
We believe that by supporting groups and individuals, our underwriting award can benefit our community and promote engagement in the arts in the following ways:
1. By supporting workshops that make the arts accessible to a wide-ranging audience (i.e. anyone can have a go).2. By supporting organisers to put on large scale events that inspire and engage audience members.
Our underwriting exists to support individuals and organisations in their pursuit of either and both of these aims.
Travel Grant

The Isle of Man Arts Council supports groups and individuals looking to participate in festivals and competitions off island. Help is available to cover the costs of travel off the island.
